Welcome back to "WE Rise," the series where we celebrate inspiring entrepreneurs and share their stories of resilience, purpose, and success.

This week, we're shining a spotlight on Amira Davis, co-founder of D5 Consulting Group LLC. Amira and her husband saw a need for more engaging and effective training programs, and they built a business around filling that gap. Her journey highlights the importance of identifying a real need, leveraging your network, and, above all, perseverance.

Filling a Need in the Training World:

"We wanted to create trainings where people were engaged and actually learned something,"

Amira and her husband founded D5 Consulting Group with a clear mission: to create training experiences that are actually engaging and effective. Having participated in numerous trainings over the years, they noticed a common problem – a lack of effort and genuine engagement. "We wanted to create trainings where people were engaged and actually learned something," Amira explains. This desire to improve the training landscape became the driving force behind D5 Consulting.

Overcoming Early Challenges:

Like many new businesses, D5 Consulting faced its share of hurdles. "Business 101," Amira says, describing their initial lack of financial mentorship. "We never had any kind of mentor, so we didn't know anything about finances." Building a reputation from scratch was another challenge. "Figuring out how to bring in business without having a reputation to start with" was a significant obstacle. However, Amira and her husband leveraged their complementary strengths – his training background and her sales and marketing expertise. They focused on marketing themselves, utilizing their extensive network, and even providing some initial training sessions at no cost to build their portfolio and credibility.

Lessons in Entrepreneurship: Persistence and Planning:

"Make sure you do a research and have a plan in place."

When asked about the most valuable lesson she's learned, Amira emphasizes the importance of perseverance. "Keep going," she advises. "I feel like it's easy to give up, and I feel like a lot of times people think running a business is very easy... They don't see what goes on in the back end." Her story is a reminder that success often requires navigating the unseen challenges and staying committed to your vision. Amira also stresses the importance of planning. Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs? "Make sure you do a research and have a plan in place." She acknowledges the under appreciated value of mentorship, calling it "such a valuable tool."

The Empowered Mindset: Self-Belief and Support:

To her younger self, Amira would offer this powerful message: "You are good enough." She encourages entrepreneurs to believe in themselves and not let self-doubt hold them back. Amira finds motivation and focus through meditation, exercise, and the support of her partner. "When one of us is feeling weak, the other one lifts us up," she says, highlighting the importance of a strong support system. She cultivates a positive mindset by practicing mindful self-talk and seeking guidance from people whose opinions she values.

Wise Women and the Power of Community:

Amira draws inspiration from women like Jackie Council, whose insight and counsel she values, and Dr. Shirley Davis, whose books and work she admires. Her definition of a "wise woman" centers on knowledge, insight, and emotional intelligence: "Someone with knowledge and insight but also a good temperament. I sometimes feel like having a good temperament is half the battle. Knowing how to handle your emotions." She stresses that connecting with a community is key. "Network and be authentic".

Building Strong Relationships:

Amira's advice for building strong business relationships echoes her emphasis on authenticity and connection. "Be authentic. Be available," she advises, underlining the importance of genuine interaction and responsiveness.

WE Rise Together: Supporting Women in Business:

"Be authentic", is the advice Amira would give to other women entrepreneurs. She champions the idea that authenticity is key.

Take Action Today:

Amira's advice is simple: Take action towards your business goals. "Start!! Get a plan together!!"
